When I’m not here listening to music, I read. A lot. Of course, more than few of those books are about music. Non-fiction, fiction, doesn’t matter. One of my favorites is Nick Hornby, who is a complete obsessive and gets to the truth about what it means to be a fan. You probably know about High Fidelity and About a Boy from the movies (you should get the books, though), but my favorite is A Long Way Down, if only for the following:
“It’s music rage, which is like road rage, only more righteous. When you get road rage, a tiny part of you knows you’re being a jerk, but when you get the music rage, you’re carrying out the will of God, and God wants these people dead.”
Anyone who’s ever sat around with a bunch of music geeks knows this is the TRUTH.
Go check him out, you’ll be glad you did.
