The second artist playing our SXSW party is NYC’s AVAN LAVA. The band consists of vocalist Tom Hennes, Le Chev, and Ian Pai along with additional live performers Andrew Schneider, Drew Citron and Jo Lampert. Built out of a desire to express their love of electronic beats, R&B, and Indie music through one sound, the band released their first EP, Vapors, in 2010. Released in 2012, AVAN LAVA’s follow up EP, Flex Fantasy, was produced by Tom Coyne at Sterling Sound (Robyn, Beyonce, Jay-Z, D’Angelo) and includes the singles “It’s Never Over” and “Feels Good.” This year will see the release of their first full-length album.
When they’re not writing or performing their own music, the members of AVAN LAVA (who are also producers and mixers) are working with bands such as Cold Cave, Fischerspooner, Cat Power, CSS, Frankie Rose, SSION, Lemonade, Lia Ices, Matthew Barney and The New York Philharmonic. Additionally, the band composes original music (see below) for world renowned fashion photographers Inez & Vinoodh.
According to their website, AVAN LAVA is “notorious for their banging beats, laser shows, choreographed sequences, and unmatched energy, the group explodes in your face.” We’re ready. Are you?
