Indie-rocker-gone-dance-pop duo, Tegan & Sara, are back with an infectious new single, “Closer,” from their forthcoming album, Heartthrob.

The track, produced by hit-makers Greg Kurstin (Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha) and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (M83’s “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”), is a departure from Tegan & Sara’s acoustic guitar-driven songs from albums past. From the opening notes, “Closer” dives into sweeping synthesizer textures, dance-inducing beats, with all the sensibilities of a radio-friendly pop song.

Who can’t relate to the butterflies from a new crush and the longing thrill to “get a little bit closer?”

The twin sisters just wrapped up a tour supporting The Black Keys and will be on the road with The Killers in November and December. Look for Heartthrob due January 2013.
