The new Paloma Faith album has landed.
Already nominated numerous times for Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Album at the BRIT Awards, Paloma Faith delivers the soul-goods once again and is sure to secure her third multi-platinum success. A Perfect Contradiction is a clear tribute to rhythm & blues/soul music.
As I traveled through the album song by song, I felt like I was on a magical journey traversing the decades.
Some of my personal favorites:
#1 – “Can’t Rely On You” (In your face, sassy, empowering, a UK Top 10 hit)
#2 – “Mouth To Mouth” (I’m passing through the ’80s, think Teena Marie or Stephanie Mills)
#3 – “Take Me” (Gospel influences reminding me of Candi Staton or Patti LaBelle)
#4 – “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” (True R&B that cuts to the heart & soul, a UK Top 10 hit)
#6 – “Taste My Own Tears” (Right out of the Motown handbook)
#9 – “Impossible Heart” (Energetic and moving dance. Very ‘Mary J Blige’)
Driving a business toward women 25-55? Paloma hits the target solid.
