We may be heading into winter but I’m already looking forward to Spring. And how better to celebrate my obsession with sunshine than with a little Island fare. Finding it hard to wrap one’s mind around something that is months away when the holidays are right in front of us?
Recently I received a wonderful treat from our friends at Shanachie Entertainment, which is the cause for my inner warmth during these bone-chilling months.
At first glance I was expecting a killer soul collaboration. But, to my surprise, I discovered Musiq SoulChild & Syleena Johnson had joined forces with Pop-Reggae songwriter and producer Kemar “Flava” McGregor to create their new album, 9INE. The talent here is unquestionable and what a wonderful change-up for these two sensations. The three co-wrote the material for this album, and what I like about it most is the originality. The album isn’t filled with the typical pop covers like so many Island/Reggae albums out there. My personal picks off the album include “Promises,” “Alright,” “Never Had” and “Feel The Fire.” Watch the video for “Feel The Fire” below…
Snuggle into those slippers, relax, and pour yourself a cool one….
