Last month, British band Foals released their third album, Holy Fire. Filled with a variety of different musical textures, the album unfolds through its use of heavy, loud drums, encompassing a hard rock element, and lighter, airy moments filled with pop undertones. Front man Yannis Philippakis describes Holy Fire as “more honest, more live, more human” – all features that he attributes to the live, one-take recordings of most of the songs on the album. Through their ability to incorporate various styles, Foals reveals their true musical talent, taking the listener on a musical adventure and creating an album that’s worth listening to, over and over again.
