Before there was such a thing as Indie Rock, a little band from Santa Cruz began releasing its own concoction of Punk/Ska/Country/ Hindu/Egyptian/Latin/Pop/Etc. music to highly selective fanfare. They even had a record label – Pitch-A-Tent Records. Nearly 30 years later, Camper Van Beethoven and Pitch-A-Tent are still alive and well in Athens, GA. And I suppose it’s only fitting that a college rock icon such as front man David Lowery is now a professor at the University of Georgia.

Campers’ latest record, La Costa Perdida, hits the silicon on January 22nd.  If you’re hip enough to be in Athens on January 24th, you can catch them at the 40 Watt Club.

Here’s a little preview called “Someday Our Love Will Sell Us Out.”

And if you’re browsing online in the Pitch-A-Tent store, might I recommend The Grit cookbook. It’s some good!
