Do you need some audial sunshine in your life? Summer has officially begun and I’m ready to start playing my summer vibes playlist as I chill at the pool, enjoy the beach, or go for a scenic stroll or drive. In no particular order, here are 13 of my summer favorites so far of 2014:
“I Got U” (ft. Jax Jones) – Duke Dumont
– High spirited dance anthem driven by a great steel drum melody
“King & Cross (Saul Sweet remix)” – Ásgier
– Icelandic singer/songwriter gets a tropical house makeover
“Salt” – Bad Suns
– Beach ready indie with a great groove
“Shame (That’s Nice Remix)” – All The Colours
– Radiant indietronica
“You Are My Pride” – Nora En Pure
– Enjoy life with this bouncy melodic house beat
“Is this Love (Montmartre Remix)” – Bob Marley
– No summer playlist is complete without some Bob Marley, so here’s a great sparkling remix
“My Friend Has A Swimming Pool” – Mausi
– This year’s pool party pop house staple
“Primadonna (Skogsrå Remix)” – Goldbass
– Can’t help but nod to this jubilant nu-funk jam
“Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Thomas Jack Remix)” – Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
– Uplifting tropical house remix of this Hawaiian classic
“Make Me Feel Better” – Alex Adair
– Pleasant tropical house jam to soothe the soul
“Return Of The Mac (Cheeky Caseno Cover)” – Mark Morrison
– Great nu-disco poolside remix
“Sun Goes Down” – Felix Jaehn & Freddy Verano
– Deep house perfect for the end of a summer day
“Best Friend (Wave Racer Remix)” – Foster The People
– I really like everything Wave Racer has been putting out
“Stand Still (Wave Racer Remix)” – Flight Facilities
– Bright, future beat with an unbelievably catchy whistling hook
Songs in this set of positive, summer vibes could work well in fresh indie/indie electronic core programs like Subterranean and Perimeter as well as programs that could do with a bit of sunlight.
