Whether you’re going by car, plane, train, or bus, summer travel inevitably involves time spent waiting to arrive at your destination. What better way to spend that time than listening to music?! I like to make special playlists for trips so I can be sure I’ll have something to listen to and certain songs will then always remind me (for better or worse) of a particular place or vacation. Music holds the power to influence our mood, conjure memories, or transport us to faraway places. Just like Mood’s custom music programs sometimes incorporate songs that are lyrically and/or musically suggestive of a certain place, time of year, or mood, personal playlists often do the same thing, especially playlists for travel. Summer hits not only get a lot of radio airplay, they remind us of the summer season and, after summer is over, of the year itself.
Now that it’s officially summer, we’re waiting to see what song will be the “Song of the Summer” for 2013. After looking around the internet, “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams seems to be the early favorite. Here are a few more contenders that might make a good addition to your summer travel playlist.
“Blurred Lines” – Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I.
