On May 1st, our second season of Mood Live continued with The Texas K.G.B. (Kelly Green Band) bringing their blend of Americana, classic rock, country, blues and even funk to the Opal Divine’s Austin Grill stage.

The Texas K.G.B.

Recently named “Artist of the Month” by our friends at the Austin Music Foundation, The Texas K.G.B. impressed our team with their dynamic stage presence. Despite the happy hour time slot on a Tuesday afternoon, the quartet gave us a no holds barred performance that perfectly showcased their tight harmonies, raw musical talent, and captivating showmanship. Trading vocal duties (and solos) throughout the set, it was clear that each member of The Texas K.G.B. brings something special to the table.

Though the band originated in the mountains of North Georgia, a successful appearance at South by Southwest (SXSW) in 2012 inspired bandmates Kelly Green (lead/slide guitar, vocals) and Jace Cadle (rhythm guitar, vocals) to relocate to the Live Music Capital of the World. Once Kelly’s brother Kody Lee (drums, saxophone, vocals) and Violet Lea (bass, vocals) joined the band, their “Texas-sized sound” was perfected. The Texas K.G.B.’s Mood Live set leaned heavily on their latest album, Welcome Home, which was recorded at 512 Studios and released in November 2017. You can get a taste of their riveting performance with the album’s title track:

Before heading over to Opal Divine’s Austin Grill, The Texas K.G.B. stopped by the Mood Media office for an introduction to all the ways we support the local music community by licensing and programing Austin artists for our local, national, and international brand playlists. We also sat them down for a conversation about the band’s journey to Austin and the exciting things to come for this “Original Americana” quartet. Watch highlights here:

As Kelly mentioned, there’s lots of new music from The Texas K.G.B. coming this year and many more chances to catch the band live! You can see all of their upcoming shows HERE.

We couldn’t do this monthly concert series without the generous support of our partners and sponsors, Austin Music FoundationLoudMouth RentalsYETIMiller Imaging & Digital Solutions and, of course, Opal Divine’s Austin Grill. See more photos from The Texas K.G.B.’s performance as well as recaps, photos, and videos from both seasons of Mood Live HERE.
