Last year marked the 10th Anniversary of indie rock band Minus the Bear. They celebrated by touring the U.S. and playing a special treat for the fans, their first album, Highly Refined Pirates, in its entirety. Before their show at Austin’s La Zona Rosa, Music Designer Deidre Gott sat down with the band’s bassist, Cory Murchy. He talked about how the band came together, whether they anticipated their longevity, and how their live shows have changed over the years. They’re heading back into the studio this year so fans can expect new music from the band sooner rather than later.
The band puts on a very dynamic and, well, colorful live show. It’s no wonder they’ve lasted a decade. Get a glimpse into their performance with this video for “Hold Me Down.”
