I recently had the chance to chat with mandolinist Chris Thile (from Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek), double bassist Edgar Meyer, violinist/multi-instrumentalist Stuart Duncan and cellist Yo-Yo Ma about their collaborative effort on The Goat Rodeo Sessions. The album, written by Meyer, Duncan and Thile, fuses influences from Jazz, Bluegrass, and Classical music among others – creating tracks that are truly one of a kind. It was a pleasure hearing their chemistry first hand and understanding how it translated to the record. After the studio version of The Goat Rodeo Sessions spent the past 7 months on the Billboard Classical Crossover charts, the group is releasing, today, a DVD of their one-time  live performance at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts, recently aired on PBS.
