A couple lessons learned from the week-long festival that was SXSW:

1) Obnox is the coolest band in the world.
2) Free all-you-can-eat chili dogs is not necessarily a good idea.

Aside from seeing a set from The Jesus and Mary Chain at the Belmont, I stuck mostly to the outskirts of downtown, checking out showcases for some of the great Garage labels/blogs that make the trip to SXSW not to cash in, but to have fun (check out Get Bent, Tic Tac Totally, Super Secret, In The Red, Goner, Burger Records, Rubberneck, 12xu etc.).
