The story began when American traveler, Matt Sullivan, got in a car crash in Madrid. The car he totaled was full of old records…great records. Turns out he hit Vampi Soul/Munster Records owner, Inigo Pastor. The two were able to put the crash behind them and bond over music. Soon after, Sullivan was in the business of reissuing music for Pastor. In the late 90s, Sullivan returned to the US to start his own label, Light in the Attic.
The label’s early releases included essential reissues from proto-hip-hop pioneers, The Last Poets, and influential psych-pop vocal group, The Free Design.
