For the first Panorama Festival, I would have to say it was pretty impressive! Goldenvoice, the creators of Coachella, did an excellent job of bringing a diverse and fun-filled music festival to the East Coast. Including an MTV dance floor, live graffiti painting and performing stages, Panorama NYC was a playground for music, art and future forward technology.
The festival had a great lineup of popular artists, including Kaytranada, Blood Orange, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals. I knew there was no way I was missing this when I realized two of my favorite artists, Kendrick Lamar and AlunaGeorge, were performing. I’m sure the TDE rapper needs no introduction. However, AlunaGeorge is a UK electropop duo consisting of Aluna, (singer/songwriter) and George (production and instrumentation). Aluna is known for her sugar sweet vocals and heartwarming vibe, while George’s production style is a recipe of garage, house and experimental hip-hop with ‘90s R&B.
Kendrick had an enthralling performance as usual. After performing songs from his music catalog dating back to The Kendrick Lamar EP up to Untitled Unmastered, he left the entire crowd chanting “we gon’ be alright!”
Panorama teamed up with HP to bring an interactive experience combining technology, artistry and visual design, curated exclusively by NY based artists. It was a 70 foot high dome featuring seven digital interactive installations such as an inflatable music bounce house, 360 degree virtual reality theatre and a high tech hammock that turned your body’s motion into sound. The HP technology featured made Panorama an even more creative and innovative experience, exemplifying how music, design and technology go hand-in-hand. I can’t wait to see what else Goldenvoice has in store for summer ‘17!
