Jon Kennedy has been making soulful, chill out hip hop for a long time. He was discovered when he passed a tape to Mr. Scruff in 2000, who then started playing the tracks on his radio show at the time.

Jon has released albums on Tru Thoughts/Grand Central Records. He now releases his records on his own label, Jon Kennedy Federation. Along with making records, he plays in a band and DJ’s all over the world. He is coming to America this winter and I plan on trying to check him out. If you are in LA, come with me!!!

His music makes its way into much of my personal life….my car, my runs, my mixed tapes. He cites ELO, Peter Frampton, David Essex and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds as early influences.

I check him out every so often and usually I find a new record. His latest is called Corporeal. ¬†As usual, it’s full of chilled out, beautful, soulful beats. I’m a fan.

Here are two tracks. Enjoy.
